We all know the feeling.
Twice a year, we get jet-lagged without traveling.
One day, our biorhythm is fine.
The next, we feel sluggish.
The culprit: Daylight Saving Time.
Although it is still discussed controversially, the data is in:
The seasonal switch from the natural Standard Time to the artificial Daylight Saving Time has no benefit for energy saving, social time, or labor productivity.
It is unnecessary and unhealthy.
The infographic summarizes the discrepancies between sun time and social time for the East Edge and West Edge in the United States. It was designed by Ackerman, Phan, Landaverde, Lee, Seluzicki, and Golden as part of the BioClock Studio at the University of California San Diego in 2019, and kindly provided through the Society for Research on Biological Rhythms.
If you reside in the US, you have a chance to change this mandated jet-lag now.
The US House of Representatives passed the “Sunshine Protection Act” last week on July 14, 2026. This would establish permanent Daylight Saving Time across the US. The “Sunshine Protection Act” is the opposite of what society and economy need. It also entails there would be no option for states to self-exempt in the future. Next, the bill goes to the Senate.
The Sunshine for Our Kids Act aims to establish permanent Standard Time. It is supported by the American Academy of Sleep Medicine.
We still have an opportunity to advocate for health and economic advantage with permanent Standard Time!
Contact your Senator via telephone or a contact form as shown below, and share a brief message supporting Standard Time.
Advocate for Standard Time:
“Permanent Standard Time is supported by all scientific and medical Societies that have taken a position on this topic.
Because it is better for our health, safety, and economy.
Please oppose the ‘Sunshine Protection Act’.
Instead, please favor the ‘Sunshine for our Kids Act (SOKA)’”
